This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Is that a P-61 tail in the back ground of one of those pictures?

Note the Holley Intake, those these were also found on the J Model version, these could be the remains of one of the H models supposedly under the Chinese umbrella of secrecy

Meaning the markings residue could be Chinese not U.S. since that's the topside of a right wing panel-not the usual place for U.S. markings

The shade of blue looks too light for US insignia as well.
I tried finding this on Google (where I originally found it), but for some reason can't get any matches. Good thing I kept a copy.

That stuff outta be recovered. The Chinese don't have a sense of a warbird movement.

BDK,
On your trip (and I know this a long shot) did you notice any Vultee P-66 or Republic P-43 parts that you could recognize? The rumors have been circulating for years that something may have survived.

No Vultee stuff... Saw a B-24 wing though.
Plenty of buildings with who-knows-what in them. All those buildings have been torn down now. Hopefully they saved everything that was in them.
