Bob "No Neck" West has gone west

Mon Jun 18, 2007 11:34 am

For those of you who knew "No Neck" or worked with him at airshows across the country, Bob past away Saturday morning in his sleep. His presence will be missed (especially during morning briefing and after the show in "O" club. The Warbird community has lost one of its most colorful characters.

Those unfamiliar with his name most likely enjoyed his handiwork without even knowing it. No Neck was the "Go to guy" for air show pyro and orchestrated many a great show across the country throughout his career.

Another one gone west. What a sad month this is.

Bless him for all he did.

Another half mast day for my flag, for remembering will always keep the spirit alive.

The family has asked folks in the airshow community to pass along any photos they may have for the memorial service.

Please email or PM me for the email address to send them to.

My favorite "No Neck" story... We were at Whiteman AFB for a show. We were waiting for our rides at a local motel to go to the base, cup of coffee in our hands, the sun just above the horizon.... KERR BLAM! Someone blew a large pyro in the parking lot, where we were waiting. I turn around to look and there was "No Neck" on the second floor balcony laughing his butt off! I'll never forget the tee hee hee laugh of his.....
