P-51D N119H

Sat Jun 16, 2007 6:10 pm

After close to 2 years in it's hanger P-51D s/n 44-73275 N119H saw daylight again this morning.
I went down and helped Jeff with Mike Wright for a couple hours get the Mustang ready for Jeff's
annual inspection. With the cowl off Jeff and Mike checked all fluid levels and for leaks. Once outside
Jeff ran her for 10 minutes while checking the flaps and coolant doors before shutting her down.
They check once again all fluid levels and for leaks before he cranked her up again and taxied to the
edge of the ramp and did a run up to barametric, checked mags, prop, temps and pressures.
Everything was in the green and she's back in the hanger now being stripped down for the inspection.
It was nice to both see her out and that Merlin putting out some power again. When the inspection's done
we'll see Jeff and 119H in the air together. 8) Sorry no pictures, my cameras a molten blob :? .

Jack, could you say why the aircraft was inactive for this long?

???

Not really. Let's just say family issues. Not a lack of desire at all.
This P-51 is really loved by the owner.

Is there any '51 that isn't? So can I ask why she won't go to the gathering or should we leave it as it will fly and that's all that matters.

or should we leave it as it will fly and that's all that matters.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

FLASH

jim and i talked about taking it to the gathering.. its a big mayby at this point. i have just started the annual and already some problems have popped up.. we have a couple cyls with low compresion and the timeing is off on the right mag so i have some learning to do in that regard.. will get into the valves next week and see if that helps the compression but we still have to pull the prop for the 5 year AD.. vlado you available to come help us get it ready if it gets down to the wire??? i told jim i would take the time off and fly it , so the pilot part is covered if we can solve all the problems... glenn how about you??? as soon as i get a little smarter i'll give you a call as i already have some questions... found one missing and two cracked exhaust nuts and one cracked stack.. and i really haven't even started...glenn/vlado anyone have some exhaust nuts??

119H's valves have been adjusted, exhaust cracks repaired.
Jeff should have most of her back together this weekend.
The prop still has to come off and go to CA for the inspection.
Time frame for that is 2 weeks to 3 months. Before you ask why,
it's all in how much you want to spend.
