West-bound warbird on a trailer in Colorado?

Thu Jun 14, 2007 8:04 pm

A friend of mine was on his way back east with the family on highway 80, headed to New York and some air shows/museums. Today in Colorado, as he was sleeping, and the wife was driving, they passed a big rig pulling an extra wide trailer with a warbird on it. He didn't get woken in time to see it coming, and described it as possibly being in faded German markings, and possibly a two or three place aircraft.

Any one got their feelers on?

Last Friday I thought I saw a Fairy Firefly on a truck headed westbound. I was headed east so I didn't get a long look.

I know Bill and Alan at Westpac are moving their operation up to CO due to Rialto Airport being plowed under for development. Maybe some of their stuff. although likely would not be headed west.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa....Bill and Alan? is this Bill Klaers? I know he and his brother Steve like spending time in CO, so to hear they are moving here would be great news....have to give him a call and see what the deal is, if the # is still valid. Maybe later this weekend and I'll see what I find out by monday...
