Baa Baa Black Sheep Season #2 on DVD July 3

Wed Jun 13, 2007 7:40 pm

Well Finally
I was told by my local DVD Dealer that Baa Baa Black Sheep Season #2 will be out July 3 of this year ! If this is old news disreguard.

The only thing that made Season I palatable was the cool airplane footage. In season II they decided to "spice up" the show with "Pappy's Lambs" and that obnoxious whiney teenage kid with feathered '70s hair.

Think I'll pass on this one..

I have a Crash Rescue Truck that was built in Battle Creek By American in 1945 are they still around ?

Hi Glen,

I've never heard of "American." There was an automaker called "American Motors," but I don't think they were around during WWII. AMC owned the Jeep name, but was perhaps most infamous for the Pacer..kind of the Edsel of the '70s.

Not sure what company made your truck..of course a lot of companies switched from making consumer goods to military production in WWII. I used to work for a shopping cart manufacturer, and was told they made steel runway matting during the war. Heck, I just found out last week that there was a company in Battle Creek that made B-47 fuselage sections.

All due respect to Boyington, I never cared much for the TV show. Maybe because I'd met Conrad and he was, IMHO, an arrogant, overbearing, SOB with a Napoleonic complex, and a practitioner of the "What good's a little power if you can't abuse it." principle. (It's a long story.)

OK...I was in LA, visiting my little brother (an actor type) and he got a call to audition for "Blacksheep". We got there and sat watching the other actors read. Conrad was there putting in his opinions of the actors performances. Mostly in a sarcastic manner that all the actors could hear. Very rude to do this in front of other actors. There's a time to assess an actor's performance (in private) after the audition. Oh...I forgot to mention. These auditions were for non feature parts. Maybe an entrance with one or two lines and gone.
But there was Conrad, totally involved in this minor process that wouldn't affect the episode one way or the other. After about 8 or 10 actors were dismissed, My brother pointed out to me that the ones that were dismissed were, without exception, TALLER than Conrad. (At his best, he's about 5'5".)
The ones that were kept were his height or shorter. My brother is 6'3" so he knew he might as well leave and we got up to go. The ass't. director asked him why he was leaving. His reply, "'Cause the RUNT ain't hirin' anyone who's not a dwarf." I thought the guy was gonna' split a gut to keep from laughing.
He apologized and said there was nothing he could do.

My brother did get hired by Conrad to do his "cop" show. (I don't remember the name.) BUT...He got hired for no other reason than that he WAS bigger than Conrad and he played a "bad guy" that Conrad got to beat up. So Conrad was OK with bigger people if he could show he was tougher than they were. What an AZZHOLE. :finga:

My brother made a fortune in "Hollyweird" playing "3 piece suit" types.
I'm sure you've seen him.

That doesn't suprise me about Conrad, but when I was growing up, the ONLY guy more cool on TV was Captain Kirk. ;) At least that's how I remember it.

I was just listening to a cd of some interviews from the Gathering of Corsairs, and one of the Black sheep (IIRC) was sharing a story of how he flew for Pan Am after the war and was in Osaka having beers with some of the Japanese pilots and they both learned they were at Rabaul, and the Japanese fellow had been shot down twice.

Hey Mudge, did he put a Battery on his shoulder and dare you brother to knock it off!?

Yeah, I had heard that he was a bit hard to deal with, darn shame 'cause I thought he was pretty cool when I was watching the show as a kid.

As a side note, does anyone remember his appearance on one of the variety/talk shows of the time where he had the host sit in one of the Corsairs and fire it up? Might have been Merv Griffin, but I can't remember.

Hooray for Hollyweird!

Lotta folks out this way (Greeley, CO) said he was an ass too, cuz if you guys recall they filmed 'Centennial' the mini series out here and a friend of mine (coincidentally David Price's nephew, from the defunct Santa Monica museum of flying) sez his father almost got in a fight with him cuz he did'nt like the way he treated people (Conrad)....

Now the two actors from the Corsair Gathering in 2002 at Indy....forget their names....the one that played Boyle and the one that played TJ Wiley....nice guys and let me take their picture...

Looking forward to owning the second season.
