Calling Randy Haskin Small World Dept.

Fri Jun 08, 2007 9:19 pm

Randy,
Heard back already from Gen. Austin. He gave me the number of a friend
who flew in the 492nd and I'll contact him.
Now, here's the biggie............
Gen Austin was recalled in 1950 from the OK ANG and he reformed the 492nd FS and was the CO for the next 2 years!! They were flying F-84s and he lead them across the Atlantic to France where they were based.
Most of his a/c were named "GAL-OF-MY-DREAMS" and his WWII P-47 had Donald Duck yelling "FLAK" into a old fashion hand crank phone.
