Anyone want a B-29 type rating?

This is a local story on the fund raising efforts for FiFi. Sounds like a unique aproach, I hope it works out well!

Really, who *wouldn't* want a B-29 type rating???

You think the CAF would let me borrow the B-29 every once-in-a-while to maintain proficiency? Imagine showing up at a pancake breakfast with Fifi!

So, will the insurance company let you fly even WITH the rating?

????

I'm imaging you'll need alot of heavy prop time to go the whole program.
Any C-130 drivers out there???

If I could just find a sugar daddy with 300 grand for our little project.

Sigh!

Great idea, but just out of curiosity, how much of the donation do you think would be useable towards the program? What I mean is how much does it cost to fly Fifi for 10 hours? Just curious, I seem to recall hearing our Lanc is up in the thousands of dollars per hour, with insurance and everything on top of that, any idea what the B-29 operating costs are?

well last i had heard it was about 1500-2000/hr for a b-25 and about 3000 for a 17 soo...........

I sure wouldn't mind getting the B-29 type rating. Just wish I had the money to do it. Too bad I can't follow in my father's footsteps and become a B-29 pilot like he was in WWII. I'm sure I would draw much attention by taxiing FiFi to the Aero Club where I work. I'd say "Hey boss and co-workers, wanna ride?"

When we last flew FIFI, our cost to fly her (fuel, oil, insurance, maintenance costs, etc., etc.), was around $8,500 per hour. That is a rough estimate, as it calculates lots of different variables.

The B-24 is approximately half that.

Well since its gona take awhile anyway. Send me one of those engines with the modifications specs you need and the parts gaskets etc.
See if you like it and if it lasts and performs, then pay me for time spent, plus I'd donate a bunch of time as well.
