What is the story on this B-17?

I think that is the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum's B-17G, Yankee Doodle. It sports a natural finish now.

Looking closely, I think it is 44-83863 at the Armament Museum at Eglin AFB, FL. It underwent a facelift in the past year or two.
