Well Saturday wasn't as hot as Friday.

Great day. It was very crowded on saturday. The Russell Hurricane showed up at around 2pm on Saturday, but no 109 
Here is a small sample of my feeble attempts at photography:
I need to learn how to "photoshop" people out of pictures. I must have waited for 5 minutes to get a clear shot here but just gave up. At least he posed for me.

Yeah no 109, he supposedly made it as far as Bradford County Pa. But then had brake problems.

I departed Reading at 5:45 this morning on rwy 13, so you have me to thank for the early wakeup 
. Unfortunately I couldn't return for a low pass to rouse everone back out to the flightline. I thought it looked like a good turn out. I was surprised to see the B-17. Even the Holiday Inn had a lot of restored Mil. vehicles parked in the parking lot for the overnight. I would have liked to have stayed and watched the flying.

I got there late Saturday and must have missed that.
Yes, saw the Gunny there too, after he liberated Reading.

If you haven't been to this show, you have to go. This show is about WWII, not just airplanes, and it gets better every year. They spread out the re-enactor encampments a bit this year, and it worked very well that there was more space between tents so you could just wander around. There is absolutely no experience anywhere that compares to standing between a WWII field hospital's tents, next to Airborne Engineers preparing for a drop, when a P-51 or B-17 flies over. You look next to you and there is a squad of POW's being marched away.
This year, I parked the L-5 next to the 4th Armored Division's encampment. We portray the 14th Liaison Squadron, which actually worked with the 4th AD during WWII. The capability of giving a real history lesson on the L-5 to passer's-by in a fairly realistic camp setting was great.
That, the Shiner Bock somebody found and brought, and the perfect breeze coming through the tent Saturday Night, made this a Reading event to really remember.

I concur with FF, WW2 weekend is just OUTSTANDING in all respects (except for the damned rain).
It's one of the very few airshows that, no matter how many times I've been there (this year marked the 9th time I think) is always a can't miss on my schedule. I actually quit my last job after they tried to withdraw the pre-arranged days off to attend.

On Saturday, the TBM took off and couldn't get the right gear all the way up. Then he reported he had a hydraulic problem and wasn't sure he was gonna' get both down. Finally did. He went home a short time later.

Seriously, I spoke to a few WIXers at MAAM, but unfortunately, I was pretty busy and didn't get much time to chat with you.
I apologize for that.
I hope you all enjoyed watching the Candy drop as much as we enjoyed doing it.
Also, I hope you made the time to come over and meet Col. Halvorsen. He's back in Arizona already. IF you missed him, he will be visiting us at OSH this year as well.
