A collection of Avenger images

Mon May 28, 2007 12:51 pm

In my continuing research on the Avengers that came through New Brunswick, I happened on this page: http://www.transportphotos.com/
The National Archive of Transport Travel and Trade (or NA3T), located in the UK. I searched for "avenger" and came up with a listing about 65 images, all black and white. Most are of US and Canadian avengers. All except two had not been digitized, as this archive is busily collecting all sorts of transportation images in negative form, and no one will have time to do these unless there is a specific request.

I paid 30 cents each to have 52 images digitized and displayed on the site as thumbnails. I needed to see which ones were relevant to my research. I plan to order several scans low res at #1.21 each (hi res are $10).

I urge WIX members to make use of this archive in order to ensure its continuing survival.

There are still a few avenger thumbnails to be done, but someone else will have to order them. They also have about 200,000 more negs to catalogue, so who knows what may turn up. Try a search on other warbirds and see what comes up.
