This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

WOW!
I had no idea she was even close to being finished..she looks fantastic! When I saw the aircraft in the restoration hangar less than two years ago I figured it would be many years before it was on display. Any idea when the Buffalo might be finished? I don't know what kind of legal issues might still need to be resolved (I've heard the Finns are demanding it be returned.)
The only really gaping hole in NMNA's collection is an SB2C..seeing how they turned a pile of junk into that SB2A, seems like they could find some mangled carcass that could be built up into a Helldiver for static display.

I did not make it to the restoration area, but am hoping to see pics from others in the group who did.
All the Museum needs to get a Helldiver is come up the the dough ray me...
But it is interesting to note there are more Helldivers owned by Minnesotans than any other state in the union

Doesn't the Naval Aviation Museum have an SB2C on Loan from NASM?

NASM took it back.

I think the Naval museum needs a sb2c. I know a helldiver pilot who was kind of disapointed that they didnt have his airplane. I was at the Naval museum over spring break and the barracuda wasnt there yet. Looks real good though.

I think everyone agrees NMNA needs a Helldiver.
The SB2A was rolled in this past Monday.

I agree they need an SB2C.
I thought I could smell paint when close to the SB2A.

So if the SB2C is gone from Fl. I assume it is @ Garber or Dulles making ready to be put on display? Thanks.

I believe it is on display as part of a tribute to
Adm. Don Engen. I'm sure they did a good job
with it but I miss the old girl just as I do the
Sparrowhawk, Fury, etc that they reclaimed.
A quick search of the Smithsonian site shows
photos of both the Helldiver and the Fury displayed
at NMNA in Pensacola. The Sparrowhawk photos
are new to me and look to portray as currently
displayed.

I still think that sucks that the NASM took the Helldiver back. The last time I was there, it was not even on display.

Was there last summer and didn't see it!
