Montana Locator

I completed my updates to the Montana Locator. You can find it here…

As usual there are a number of blanks that need to be filled. If you are a Montana resident or visitor please take a look at the list and let me know if there is something you can add. You should also check the list available via the link above and let me know if there is something completely missing.

As usual here is the list of “Need Help” items…

#1: There may a F-89 displayed at the Great Falls International Airport. Where exactly is it?

#2: There may also be a P-63 displayed at Malmstrom AFB near Great Falls. Where exactly is it?

#3: The Montana Historical Society is in Helena. Where exactly is it located?

#4: There may also be a F-89 displayed at the The University of Montana - Helena College of Technology in Helena. If so where exactly is it?

#5: Where exactly is the Smokejumper Center located at the Missoula airport. Which building does this organization occupy?

#6: Where exactly is the Museum of Mountain Flying located at the Missoula airport. Which building does this organization occupy?

#7: There may be a F-4 displayed in Polson. If so where exactly is it?

#8: Does the Miracle of America Museum in Polson have a F-4 in the collection?

The Miracle of America Museum in Polson (36094 Memory Lane, Polson, MT) site does not list an F-4. They do, however, show a T-33 (47.40.47.83N 114.06.56.67W) and an A-7D (possibly at 47.40.49.72N 114.07.00.56W) on their web site. The A-7 is not readily visible on GE (poor resolution).

After you take the airport exit from I-15, right by the top of the ramp there's a small outdoor airpark with, as you have listed, a F-86 on a pole, and a T-33, F-106 and F-16 sitting on their gear. I didn't see a F-89 unless it's elsewhere on the airport. Being a native Montanan, I was just there in November and have pictures of the above aricraft. I remember seeing F-89s fly over regularly when we went to visit my aunt and uncle in Great Falls when I was a kid.

I am not aware of a P-63 at Malmstrom. The B-25 on the pole in the airpark was flown in the movie Catch-22. I have pictures of it.
