Pictures from Beaufort MCAS Airshow last weekend

Mon Apr 23, 2007 8:13 pm

We took a C-17 down to Beaufort this last weekend. 13 whole minutes to get there, 17 to get back. I was there for the Blue Angels accident. It was a pretty sad deal. Quite a bit of flying from other performers in the show but I thought some was pretty ragged and awfully close to the fine line.

Thanks for sharing your pics Brad.

Thanks for sharing your photos! There were obviously some interesting aircraft present. It would be a treat to see the V-22 Osprey. They're built right here in the D/FW area, and I have yet to see one!

Damned shame about the loss of LCDR Davis in Blue Angel No. 6. His soul is in the hands of the Lord, a place we'd all like to end up some day when it's our turn to "go west".

Do you have any idea what Beaufort County uses the C-131F for? Gotta love those Twin Convairs! 8)

Cheers!

I doubt you'll ever see any more than the test aircraft around here Dean. The V-22 fleet final assembly line is in Amarillo. The plant down here only does subassembly work.

Nice shots, Brad. 8) It's a tragedy what happened, but it's great to see the highlights of the show, the airplanes and those who fly them.

Dean,

Beaufort County uses its fleet of 3 C-131F's for mosquito control.

They're based at Frogmore International Airport (Beaufort County).

Hey Walt, I bet there ain't too many people on here that know about Frogmore Int.  My wife grew up in Beaufort, & we were there for the Water Fest. Air Show last summer. On a serious note, our thoughts & prayers go out to those affected by the loss of LCDR Davis.

I spent a while talking to LCDR (then a LT) Davis at a reception for the Blues at Charleston AFB in May of last year. My wife had a picture taken with him. We were both saddened to hear of his loss. A genuinely nice, down-to-earth guy.
