remains of P-61A-1, 42-5515 in New Guinea

Garry R. Pape, with John and Donna Campbell wrote the very good Motorbooks International-published (1991) book, Northrop P-61 BLACK WIDOW and in the very last chapter text paragraph on page 128 it speaks of the remains of three P-61s in New Guinea. One of these, of course, was the P-61B recovered by the Mid Atlantic Air Museum.

It is the other two that have my interest aroused. Especially the P-61A-1, 42-5515, that belonged to the 419th NFS and was reported MIA on 18 October 1944. Are there any photos published anywhere of this wreckage?

The other one they said was reportedly P-61A-5, 42-5562. They did not know at the time of publishing of their book, what unit it had served with.

These two, they said, were in the Vogelkop area.

Has any recovery of at least some parts been made?
