The painted B-17 is Carol Jean IV of the 301st. It went down over Italy. The bare metal ships are 2nd BG. Noticed that the bidding was up to about
150 bucks. Is that amount unusual for photos like this? Just curious.

301st B-17s

CAROL JEAN IV was 42-5137, I believe a B-17F-35-DL. It flew with the 32nd Bomb Squadron of the 301st. So did 42-5131, named HUN-PACKER. 42-5134 flew in the 353rd BS of the 301st and 42-5143, DIRTY GIRTIE, flew with the 352nd BS.

I was going to bid on this auction but it went quickly out of my budget.

Last week there were some very nice color photos on eBay taken at Kingman. Some rare and very sad shots of the B-17s in the scrapping process. Did a WIXer end up getting them?
