Spitfire Mk.XVI SL611 where is she now?...

Fri Apr 30, 2004 9:36 am

In Warbirds Worldwide #43, there was an article about a group called Saffordshire Aviation Centre (SAC) detailing their recovery of "78%" of this spitfire from top of Scaffell Massif, in England. The aircraft looked well buggered to put it mildly, but they were going to rebuild her to fly. Does anyone have any recent information/photographs of either SL611 or SAC?

Cheers,
Richard

Richard,

The last info I have is that the wreckage remains are in storage with Supermarine Aero Engineering, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England

This one is waiting in the wings as far as I can tell and in the words of Peter Arnold "her time will come"

Hope this helps :)

Thanks very much for the information John....

... do you know anything about SAC? They had some pretty ambitious recovery aims.
