How cheap can you get a Ventura for?

Wed Feb 28, 2007 8:00 pm

This is only an idle question from a curious person who does not have the funds for it.

I was wondering what would be the rough asking price for a used Ventura/Harpoon ect?

In other words what is the best Harpoon/Ventura for sale today?

Also if I and lets say 10 other individuals would restore the bomber in house what would be the price to aquire extra parts needed to fly the bomber?

And what is the real difference between the Ventura and the Harpoon?

Thanks!

To see a flying PV-2 Harpoon go to:

To read about and see PV-1 Venturas go to:

The PV-1 Ventura had smaller more pointed vertical stabilizers, shorter wings, and a smaller payload. PV-1's are pretty rare these days. I believe there is a flying example in Australia. Only 535 Harpoons were built, most went to reserve squadrons and then were converted to sprayers after that.
Be prepared to have deep (very deep) pockets, not just for the restoration itself, but for operation. You are maintaining and feeding two 2000 H.P. Pratt and Whitneys. They suck down a lot of gas and oil VERY quickly-70 gals. gas just for start,warm-up, taxi, take off, and climb to cruise ht. A quart of oil every 15 minutes.
