When I worked at Air Heritage years ago, there were two aircraft outside. One was a B-25 named Hoosier Honey. I know that it is now flying with the Collings Foundation. The other aircraft was a Neptune. I think that it ended up going to a fire fighting out fit, but I was wondering if anyone knew of this aircraft.

I am going to have to dig out the old pics and see what the tail number is on that thing. When it was at Beaver Falls, it still had full navy paint scheme on it, and all of it's hardware inside.

Well the only pics I could find don't expose a BU number. But it is in the standard navy gray, with a blck number 9 on the nose, and a black LX on the tail. It does have the sharks mouth ot the jet engines as well.

If not there are several others in the gallery on this site, if not its a good excuse to look at some good photos of fire bomber Neptunes, C-130s, Privateers, P-3s, Venturas, OV-10s, C-123s, Firecats, B-17s (including one with Dart turboprops), AH-1s etc. etc,

Thanks guys. You know what is wild, is that when I was 13 I started volunteering at te air museum, and a friend and myself would crawl all through the Neptune and the B-25. Collings B-25 sat at KBVI for years with no one even looking at it. We pulled it over next to the museum, so that at least we could clean it.

Try:

and

The bad news is its N number has been cancelled and the reason given is that it was destroyed...

That is awsome! THat brings back so many memories. In the first pic, you can see the B-25 parked next to it. That photo was taken form the entrance road to the hangars at KBVI. That is a shame if she has been destroyed, as it had all and I mean ALL of it's gear still with it.

It was owned by the North American Air Museum in the late 80s. I was out there a few times to help them work on it and run up the engines (recips, not the jets).

They also had a Bamboo Bomber on the ramp at BVI.
