Hello Mike~
Glacier Girl was purchased by Provenence Fighter Sales and moved to California at the end of last year.

Are you saying you have heard it has been sold again to a collector in Texas?

Anyone know the why behind the sale. I'm surprised no one in the family had a similar drive to keep GG as Roy did. He is a hero on par with the Soplatas of the world for what he did to bring her back. Did the taxman require the sale? I'm curious.

As far as the sale of GG goes, I'd almost bet that the heirs couldn't agree on
the disposition insofar as keeping it and opted for the cash. But that's just me.

I heard that the Bearcat and Corsair (Ike Kepford paintjob) on Provenance was sold to a guy near Denton, I wonder if this could be the same man???
Let's not let this one get away and @$$ume that GG got sold until it's proven...

I believe that the aircraft is already with the new owner and I do not think it is a secret.
I do not want to be the one to name the new owner just in case he wants to remain silent.
I do not personally know the new owner but I believe the news will be out very soon.

I am based at the next airport south of Denton and the newly purchased Bearcat and Corsair arent there. Think they are based further south down toward San Antonio.
As noted on other posts in this thread.... wonder if that same collector just added another one to it!?

Airspacemag...
After the England trip, Cardin would like to load "Glacier Girl" onto a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier for a symbolic retrieval from the European Theater of Operations. Once within range of the East Coast, Hinton hopes to launch from the carrier, arriving back in the United States as a symbol of American tenacity.

"Glacier Girl" is currently in Chino, California, where installation of modern avionics, including a GPS navigation system, gyros, and radios, is under way.
It ain't in Chino no more.

Those other two... How much closer to San Antonio?

Air & Space article wrote:Hinton is nonchalant about the trip. "I’ve flown it before," he says, and operationally, "it’s not a problem." But he does feel that the mission is special. It will complete "Glacier Girl"’s "purpose of life. It gives us greater understanding of World War II veterans and what they did in that war," he says.
I respect Hinton as a pilot/restorer and by all accounts he is a good guy, so I am saddened to see such blithering statements associated with him. "Glacier Girl's purpose in life"? "Greater understanding..."? What claptrap. Stunts like this, and warbird flights generally, do not advance our understanding of anything, they just add an emotional gloss to it. It is time to stop justifying the cost and risks of things like this with nothing more than sentimental schmaltz. The owner should just cut to the chase and say, "It's my toy and this is how I want to play with it."
I surely do hope the speculation is true and that GG has been acquired by some new owner, with enough sense to stop this.

According to the latest printings, she was supposed to join the "permanent" collection of Provenance, along with the ex-Gary Kohs Corsair. Bob Cardin was even supposed to move out to California to take care of her, and Hinton was still her only pilot. BDK also posted yesterday that she is going to be flying with the PoF Lightning sometime soon. Provenance is based out of French Valley Airport now.
However, if this has changed, and she has joined the growing collection in Texas most are thinking of, he is the gentleman that bought the Frank Borman TF-51D, as well as the ex-Tony Banta Bearcat and ex-Vintage Fighters Corsair. The mustangsmustangs database says the TF is owned by Rod Lewis of San Antonio, and she is registered to Lewis Aeronautical, LLC also of San Antonio. The Bearcat and Corsair show the same. However, if I remember right, I think King said that they were down in Cotulla.
If she does come to Texas, I would love to see her. Besides the F2G and the TFC Hawk 75, she is the one warbird that I would like to see most.
