This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I am actually glad that the Mariner got placed inside. I don't think that there are too many of those left.

Oh yeah, I agree. I would rather some of the other stuff went in first as well.

Unfortunately the nose and tail artwork on the S-3 wouldn't last long in the Tucson sun if it wasn't under cover. I assume that is the reason for giving the hangar space to the non-too-rare Viking.

When I went by there a couple of weeks ago it looked like the F-107 was in there too. They were closed and I was looking through the fence from out in the parking lot.

It's the only one.

Here is a list of the aircraft we plan to put in the new Hangar.
Martin PBM
Pereia Osprey II
North American F-107
Lockheed SR-71
Lockheed D-21
Lockheed YO-3A
Republic A-10A
Fleet Model 2
Helton Lark
Bell AH-1S
Douglas B-18
Lockheed S-3
Kaman SH-2F
Gyrodyne QH-50
Douglas SBD
Ten of these are aircraft that have been on display outside or would have been displayed outdoors without the new building. The others are either coming out of storage or from other display hangars. There will be exhibits themed around each of the groups; Seaplanes, Prototype Development, Aerial Recon, Aviation in Arizona, and Submarine Hunting.

James S, many thanks for the update and the information

That's great news! Looks like the PBM will have clear windows again as well. I'd love to see that Sikorsky amphibian (the designation escapes me) moved indoors as well, considering the monumental work that went into her restoration.

Pictures of the ones coming out of storage or being moved into the hanger by anybody who happens to be in the area would be appreciated

James,
I also thought the Sikorsky S-43 was originally going inside as well.

Several years ago we were planning a hangar that would have housed all of our amphibians both fixed and rotary wing. That is probably what you are remembering. That project didn't attract much in the way of donor interest unfortunately and had to be dropped. We're currently reviewing options for future buildings and the S-43 might make it into one of those plans.

Is the above list the only aircraft going into the new hanger or are there other planes too?

As of right now that is all of the aircraft going into the building. The building is only 40,000 square feet and those should fill it up pretty good.
