This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

One of my fantasies is to see Kermit Week's B-17 and his B-24 get overhauled and start touring North America. (Exactly like the Collings Foundation) Anyone know if this "fantasy" has a chance of becoming a reality? Or at least seeing that magnificent Liberator get restored to take to air once more?

There is a post on this forum about the state of his B-17s. Heres the link

Not sure if it mentions the B-24 though

Warbird Kid,
Lots of us B-24 fans would LOVE to see another B-24 take to the skies to join Lil and the Collings Foundation examples. With all of the B-17s in the air, it sure seems to be a shame that there aren't more of the B-24s out there as well. It just has to do with the extreme shortage of available airframes.
If you'll use the handy search function here on WIX and look for Weeks and B-24, you'll find several discussions of Kermit's B-24 and its condition, as well as some informed folks' assessments of whether/when it will fly again. Right now, based on my review of those posts, it doesn't seem like it's a high priority for Kermit. Hopefully for us B-24 fans, he'll devote some resources to it soon!!!

I wish I had so many planes that a B-24 wasn't a high priority!

I wonder what it must be like to have the thought that "my B-24 isn't the most important thing for me to work on right now."
Is there a list on here if I do a search or somewhere else that shows his entire collection. I know his web site pretty much lists what he has on display, but I'm wondering about everything else like the blimp parts, B-29, and Lancaster.

I dont know about a list, but maybe you could get some info by calling or writing.
They are usually nice about stuff like that over there. All you gotta do is ask.

Yeah thats an idea.
And yeah i wish that i could have that problem that Week's has. He's got so many warbirds he doesnt know what to do with them!
It sure must nice to wake up, drive down to your "Big Garage", open the door and say to yourself "Hmmmmm, Which one do I wanna fly today?"
AHHHHHHHHH, I'd kill for that!

I think Kermit has a higher priority now than planes, his family. Whatever is happening with any particular plane they are safley and well cared for there.

I agree with Bill, I think we should all be thankful that Kermit has cared so well for so many aircraft, including some true rarities!

The heck with that...I want to see his B-29 in the air (or at least back in one piece)!
