Back when the other pictures of the aerobatic team in the T-6's doing the same thing, I did a little searching and found that it was a pretty common practice of the crop dusters. Supposedly to clean the wheels

i think that old t-6 thread that showed the t-6's skimming the water on their gear was debunked as a phoney pic / plot, but what i do remember from that thread is it sure stirred up alot of controversy!!!

Tom:
I have seen a video of a flight of T-6's doing the water skimming..if it is faked, then the guy who did it will put Steven Speilberg out of the special effects business!

Not fake, it was written up in a number of magazines, including Classic Wings, with the story, technique and advice not to try it yourself from the guys in S Africa.

I was driving across the causeway from New Orleans to Hammond over Lake Ponchetrain and saw a "B" model AgCat do the same thing parallel to the roadway. This was in the mid 80's time frame.

I have a friend here who is a duster. I have seen him do it numerous times.
