"Short" Description:Dedicated to Preserving the Memory and Legacy of the Berlin Airlift of 1948-1949

The Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation is dedicated to preserving the memory and legacy of the greatest humanitarian/aviation event in history, The Berlin Airlift.

Our Mission is to preserve this memory by preserving several aircraft used in the great event and creating "Flying Memorials and Classrooms" with the purpose of educating the public about this pivotal, yet forgotten, event in world history.

Founded in 1988, the Foundation has obtained and restored to flying condition, a Douglas C-54E transport aircraft, which helped support the C-54's which carried out this great mission. Named "SPIRIT OF FREEDOM", the aircraft is painted to represent the 48th Troop Carrier Squadron, one of the many groups which carried out the event. Inside, the "SPIRIT", is a genuine museum dedicated to the Berlin Airlift, filled with artifacts, displays, and information explaining this all important event in recent history.

In 1996, the Foundation has also taken on an even BIGGER challenge: The Boeing C-97. This large 4-engined aircraft is one of only 2 left flying in the world today. The Foundation purchased this aircraft in 1996, and is in the process of creating a flying exhibit dedicated to the Berlin Airlift and the Cold War.

Site Name: The Latin American Aviation Historical Society.
Site: www.laahs.com

The Latin American Aviation Historical Society, or LAAHS for short, is a 'not-for-profit' entity created for the research, preservation and dissemination of the history of the civilian and military aviation in Latin America.

Besides this website, other preservation and historical dissemination activities through other communication channels, are being constantly planned and developed. LAAHS members are always striving to improve on the quality of the information presented through our online publication and other media.

The society itself serves as a specialist group to other institutions and individuals (mainly aviation researchers and writers) who, from time to time, present us with questions that trigger huge research efforts from our part. In both cases, the help of contributors and correspondents from throughout the continent and the world at large, is greatly appreciated.

We also realize that there is a real lack of unity amongst the Latin American Aviation related websites, and we believe that our common historical preservation goals can be furthered through an ongoing cooperation project, as a goal of our Society. It should be evident that the future holds great promise. Your knowledge, enthusiasm and collaborative efforts will be invaluable assets and will help us all to achieve our stated goals.

We all participate voluntarily in this historic preservation effort, and no matter how little or how large your contribution may be, you will always be welcome to participate in our activities.

The LAAHS website also serves as a Hub for connecting and reconnecting aviation nuts, historians, authors and scale modelers from around the world, who share the same passion and interest: Latin American Aviation History.

Last but not least, this website is the place where our collaborators and members publish the results of their research efforts, mainly in the form of historical articles.

Backing the production and administration of the Website is a great team of LAAHS members, known as the Core-Group. They are:

Ontario-Warbird ( Dave Cheeseman )

This site has changed theme's many times from being a place to post my aviation images and video , to the current way it will stay. Just redid the site and want to build a detailed list of all WWII Warbirds located in Ontario, Canada and include good walk around images, video and history of the airframe.

This site is just a detication to Jerry Billing, the history of him backed up with lots of images and video of his air show displays.
