I just saw on Sky News that Group Captain John "Paddy" Hemingway passed away today at the age of 105. They said he was the last surviving Battle of Britain pilot. Blue skies sir and thank you for your service.

Well that's it then. The last of the "few" are gone. Blue Skies sir.

The passing of a generation.
Last week an uncle, a 8th AF navigator who became a POW, died at 103.

If you're of a certain age, you'll remember when everyone's dad...and a few mothers...were WWII vets.

RIP to them all.

Sad but true as they are almost all gone. Yesterday was my Uncle Leonard Martin who survived the Bataan Death March. He would have been 116 yesterday.

Simply amazing that he survived. My grandfather would have been 99 this year. Sadly passed away in 1996 at age 70. Too soon.
