We talked with one of only two Me-262 pilots in the U.S. last night, Mr. Wolfgang Czaia. Great interview, with detailed insight into the flight characteristics of this historic aircraft, the world's first operational jet fighter. Mr. Czaia flies the Military Aviation Museums reproduction Me-262 and has a flying history in several different jet aircraft (F-84F, F-104) stretching back to the 1960s and his time flying with the German Air Force.

Have a listen!

Thanks for sharing. Haven't seen anything from inside the cockpit of the new build 262s.

There are 5 other rated Me262 pilots in the U.S. They all have flown, or currently fly, the Collings Foundation airframe.

Right...I meant to say that he flies one of two. Thanks for the correction.

Interestingly enough (to me at least), as Mr. Czaia says in his interview, the two "teams" don't talk regularly or share information? That surprised me. I'd think you'd want to talk with others flying the same aircraft to share handling characteristics or just simply, "hey, one time the airplane did this...that ever happen with yours?"
