Good evening all, Great news again today! The C-47 "Union Jack Dak" is coming from the USA to our event! This is what the owners say about it... "In 1944 the aircraft we now know as "Union Jack Dak" was serving with the 73rd Squadron of the 434th Trooper Carrier Group at Aldermarston in Berkshire. They had arrived in the UK the previous February having travelled via Brazil, Guinea and Morocco, and had spent previous 16 months preparing for Operation Overlord. That moment came at 1.30am on 6th June 1944, when the crew of UJD struggled in the pre-dawn sky towing a Waco glider. They were fortunate; flak was light and only two aircraft were lost in the operation. UJD went on to serve at Arnhem, and in the Battle of the Bulge before being converted to an airliner and then a freighter. In 2010 a group of British volunteers rescued her form the weeds where she had sat for a decade and restored her to her D Day condition. It is a privilege to bring her back to Normandy 70 years to the day after her first visit." Eric Zipkin - President Tradewind Aviation

Listen… that island of yours has got plenty of Gooney birds in and around the area! There are hardly any in the North East! Let alone Connecticut! So few vintage warbirds fly from here. This C-47 was the biggest. Hate to loose it.

Unfortunately it's all about the boating / sailing thing around here on Long Island Sound.
