Palm Springs Air Museum's SBD Dauntless that was recovered from Lake Michigan. I took these photographs earlier this year.

The last time I saw that Dauntless it was in as pulled from the lake condition. They moved it to California before I had a chance to see it restored. Looks much different nowadays

I saw it last year. They did some creative preserve/ restoration which you can tell its not flyable. But for a loaner from the Navy, it looked spectacular. With a huge collection there including a B-17, Tigercat, Hellcat, Spitfire,p-40, P-63, B-25, C-47, and a couple dozen more, the Dauntless was the glamour girl of the bunch. There was a crowd around it the whole time.
Sure wish the rest of them were retrieved from Lake Michigan.
