Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Thanks for putting up the interesting pics Mike. It is good to see 924 back, although the Neptunes might be the most interesting things there.

Is there a RR heritage ramp this year and if so, anything cool there?

August

Strega 492.5 mph as timed by a guy in the croud here. Sounded great! (just a few minutes ago)

The Bear did 490 (unofficial as well) but was too high so that time does not count. Unlimiteds go again this afternoon. The jets are going up now.

I should be able to get more pics posted tonight.

No much so far. I am in the grand stands and can see a very nice radial Cessna, a yellow T-28, an N3N (?), and a beatiful polished Beach 18 maybe a C-45.

Furias gear not confirmed locked. Emergency vehicles rolled. Right main collapsed on landing. Groun looped. Pilot walked away. Currently clearing the site.

Furias was going up to qualify. I can not confirm myself, but others around me said they heard from the radio calls there was a problem with raising the gear. Apparently that was cleared as Furias proceeded to do the qualification lap(s). What I can tell from the radio calls is that then Furias could not confirm the gear was down and locked. A Mustang (either Sparky or Speedball Alice) gave a visual confirmation the gear was down, but even with shaking they could not confirm it was locked (this from radio calls I heard). Furias then proceeded to make a landing on 32. When the right main started to take the weight it slowly collapsed. The right wing dragged for some distance. It appeared that once the wing reached the side of the runway the ground loop initiated. When the dust cleared Furias was sitting on it's belly, so obviously the left main failed at that time. I could see through my lens, and others around me with binoculars, the pilot walking around.

It is a real shame. Furias was looking really good on those qualifying laps. I don't have official or unofficial times yet, not that it matters at this point.

The fantastic paint work on Furias is now a mess. I very much hope there is no serious structural damage.

For those of you in Reno, go take a look at the combat veteran OY-1 (USMC Stinson L-5) in the NAHI area. It is one of the most, if not the most, accurate restoration in terms of originality to a combat airframe IMHO. It's how restorations SHOULD look...
