The two photos below are Navy HUP Retrievers. In one photo if you look hard you can see the cockpit nose section of a C-97. Photo taken in 1977-1979.

Didn't someone restore one of those to flying status not that long ago? Dark Navy Blue IIRC?

Yes, it was recently lost in a fatal crash. Very sad.

The Interpid museum has just restored a HUP...so perhaps not all were scrapped.
Likewise, a few of the H-21s may have been saved.
The W-R AFB mueum has a former VIP H-21 that I think used to be at one of the yards.

There were also some HUP aiframes southside of I-10 in Quartzite, Arizona about 7 or 8 years ago.
It may have moved to the northside of I-10 along with the rest of the stuff when the property sold.
A car dealer fella was the collector as well as having some to do with the WASP museum there.

There is a flying H-21C(or 2) in Springdale, Arkansas which is visited during reunions of the 120th Aviation Co.
The 120th was the last outfit to fly the H-21's in 'Nam until Spring 1964 when they transitioned to Hueys.
There is another reunion of the 120th June 4-6...Shawnee rides, $75.

Dunno much about ownership etc., but it/they were formerly owned/flown by Max "Red" Hall an early 120th member.

Loving your pics Larry..keep 'em coming! :D

The Kalamazoo Air Zoo has a HUP-3 that looked similar to the ones in the photos when it was acquired back in the early 90s. Not sure where it came from though.

When I saw the first few pics, I couldn't help but think of the old song lyric: "Come mister tallyman, tally me banana!"
