Looking for some information on the forced landing that took place near Massey Ontario. Pictures or any information would be greatly appreaciated.

What kind of info are you looking for?
I can fill in the blanks.
I was there shortly after and took what was left home on the back of our pick-up.
Engine, landing gear and tail section.The tail consisted of a line from the ADF cover to the tail wheel.

I remember seeing the Mustang at the Breckenridge 83' show. That was one of my first
airshows shooting VHS. To me, the secret was enjoying the flying several days before the Sunday airshow. I've recently converted the footage to DVD that does include CF-BAU.

Those were great times!

That was the first Mustang I worked on or flew in (thanks Dennis!). And one of the sharpest looking ones!

Curious as to what the circumstances of the forced landing and post landing fire were? Was the initial cause ever found? I drive through the Massey area on a regular basis to and from Sault Ste. Marie and was wondering where exactly the landing took place. I heard it was a few minutes North of the city?

The landing spot was south of town, GOOGLE map Massey, go about 2 miles south. Look for Temperance valley RD.
The large farm on the north side of the road West of Mooney rd was the spot.
The road itself was 2 ft wider on each side to the landing gear on the -51. The aircraft was in good shape until the final rool-out.
There was a old carrage barn close to the road. Snow plows had damaged the sides in the past, so the owner built cement posts to block the blade of the plow.
They were going about 35 when the wing(starboard) hit this post. It swung the -51 hard right, into this barn.
As it sat, it had a collapsed rh landing gear (outwards) the props were bent backwards and the engine had been pushed back into the cockpit slightly, enough to shatter the bullet proof glass.
Rebuildable as it sat there, then the fire started.
What was left was an outline of a mustang with the tail feathers and an engine, the barn also fully burnt down.
The engine was still burning when I arrived...6 hours later.

Thanks for all the information, it's much appreaciated. I was to young at the time to have seen BAU but I did manage to see BAU #2 while it was at CWH in the early 90's.

I have some pictures I took on a very cold winter day just after Dennis had bought the Mustang
He was performing some very high power run ups that and she was still in her USAF markings at this time.
Seems like a long time ago now.
