A tad overpriced. I'd rather have a SNJ and the left over cash to run it

what a joke!! this is what ebay has gravitated down to. just because it's historic doesn't mean it's going to bring top buck. probably being sold by an uneducated greedy schmuck who doesn't know realistic value from the man on the moon.

There are a lot of items on Ebay that are listed that way. What I've noticed, is that somebody will have some really rare, unique piece and immediately put it on Ebay for an outrageous price, hoping some millionaire will buy it on a whim. It ultimately doesn't sell, and then the buyer will relist the item at about half that price with a "best offer" thrown in there. In the end, if the item sells, it will be for about 10 to 25 % of it's original asking price.

As an example, a few weeks ago, somebody was selling a piece of fabric off of Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Vega for about $ 6000. I bought a similar piece of fabric, authenticated by the NASM, off of Ebay for $ 200. The person will NEVER sell that for anywhere close to $ 6000. If they're lucky, they might get $ 500 for it.

Scared the crap outta myself last night. I clicked on the "Watch this item" icon, so I can watch to see if anyone is nuts enough to by it. After hitting the "Watch this item" the screen refreshed & for a second I thought I had hit the $200,000 "Buy it now" icon by mistake. :o Talk about a shock.

This person would probably do better by donating it to the Bush Library and taking a tax deduction for it.

Mudge the crafty :hide:

I, for one, appreciated the page scans (partial though they were) which included the BuNos of the different aircraft. As a modeler, I live for small details like that. :)

Just wish he'd scan some more pages and put'em up... the logbook belongs in the Bush Library or maybe Pensacola, but I would definitely like to have decent scans of the pages just for research purposes.
