Hi all, wife and I just got home this week end from signing all the paperwork for posession of this L-18/Lodestar in Texarkana, Ar..

This is another "Where is...as is" deals..."just get it outta here"
She is pretty much gutted out, and less FWF.
I know I'm nuts....my wife tells me every day, but I can't stand to see the old girl get turned into beer cans

There are no visible markings to identify this aircraft...the N numbers have been removed , and no data plates are, or have not been found as of yet. Anyone have a clue as to the Identity of this aircraft? I am on the road as of now, and haven't had much of a chance to do any research on her.... This is one of two L-18's at the airport...I will be helping to disassemble and move both aircraft...Anyone in WIX-land feel like getting involved or just want to come out and watch lunitics at work, contact me!

I know a good therapist in the KC area. I can get you her number if you like. Seriously dude, you need help!

In the mean time, before you seek professional help, can I interest you in a hangar full of turret parts?

A good possibility that this aircraft may be N339 18-2548, or 18-2588...And a Howard 250...
The other Lockheed is 18-2560 listed as a Gulfstream N114CA

You said that's an L-18?
That's got to be the biggest L-bird ever! How did I miss something that big?

Gary,
The two Lockheeds at Texarkana are:
42-56055/N339
42-56067/N114CA, c/n 18-2560

The other one you mentioned, 18-2588, crashed into Lake Michigan on 17Nov66.

When I had a look over them a few years back, N114CA was the only one with a data plate.
I guess yours must therefore be 56055.
Regards,
Andy Marden

Gary, GREAT SAVE!!!

Glad to see you save this aircraft. What is your plan for it? I get the ( ARE YOU CRAZY, HOW ARE GOING TO DO THAT ?) question all the time. I just tell them I'm just crazy for Warbirds, and just watch and see.

Thank goodness there are "nuts" like you out there...:D

50-100 years from now, people will be thanking you when they see it.
Good luck, you're a braver man than I am.... :D

Ryan....L=Lockheed....18=Lockheed model #...that's how they classify it as L-18...Model # is 18-2548...

Andy...Thanks for the info....was not aware of the military s/n...I have a photo of the data plate on the other Lockheed..N114CA..you correctly ID'd this bird......Was a bit confused, in researching, I ran across some info stating that 18-2588 was N339, and that the Texarkana bird was N338.....By the way, the owner of N114CA, has the tail feathers off, next we will pull the flaps and wings off both birds.

Eric.....Would you believe a bunk house?....In Alabama?

JBOYLE.....Thanks, but not brave at all, just bonkers
