I seem to remember the T-6 Gold was worth like $13,000 last year. 5th in the Gold was about $7,000 the year before that. It pays for the hotel rooms, fuel, food and beer. I have heard that the Unlimited Gold is something like $160,000 but I don't know for certain. I do know that we got a couple of checks for $1,800, which was last place when we broke the Sea Fury early in the week.

To the victor goes the spoils

I suppose they make the amount for the winner so much higher than the rest so everyone strives for it, rather than settling for second or third if it were close to first place.

There wouldn't happen to be a C-172 race category, is there?

hahaha... what a funny race that would be to watch.

sooooo slow...

Wait, that gets me thinking, have they ever done a vintage race at Reno?

Like with old Dehavilland biplanes, Gee Bees, et al? Something along the same lines as that old vintage car race that happens each year which I can't remember the name of. I'd say that would be a really neat event.

Cheers,

David
