Just wanted to mention that today is the 70th birthday of our squadron's J-3 Cub NC23412.

She's currently down for some minor maintenance issues, but still going strong!

I like the worn look. Just like an actual in service craft!

For the record, the markings N23412 s/n 3150 wears today are NOT her original markings. The markings she carries today are the "Flitfire" markings of the Texas Flitfire aircraft in honor of the folks who supported the RAF benevolent fund. It used to be in yellow markings - and just based off of old photos with the scant information the restorers had back in the '80s, then was overpainted with silver when they realized that the original Flitfires were silver.

Our aircraft apparently started life being sent to Muncie Aviation in Muncie, Indiana as a yellow colored trainer. If anyone stumbles across further information on this aircraft, I'd really like to hear about it!

What great little planes, and I'll bet there is more original parts on these dudes than any other warbird flying.

So I'm not the only one who celebrates his airplane's birthday! 8) I always try to make a trip around the circuit on the day of our spamcan's first flight. On the 40th we even took it back to Kerrville for a visit.......
