Given that they apparently held title to most of the aircraft they sold - as opposed to brokering them like Courtesy - I would be surprised if their business model would survive in this economy, as that would be a fairly capital intensive (and likely highly leveraged) way to do business. And nobody lets you run a highly leveraged business these days...

Their astronomical asking prices always indicated to me that they needed to get pretty high returns to stay afloat. People aren't writing checks right now just because they fell in love with something...even the most frivolous spenders of the past now seem to be thinking hard about value v. price.

Tony Raftis doesn't have any problem with his F1 team or his collection of Ferraris. He's probably still doing fine in the capital department.

I believe he owns/owned various Ferrari sports car - not F1 - teams,..what they call "privateer" teams, racing mainly in Australian and some European events. The cars are basically highly modified versions of "street" Ferraris.

He does I believe own a McLaren F1, however, which is one of the most desirable street cars ever built.

Provenance Fighter Sales is still owned by Tony Raftis. It is not currently trading.

Provenance was a successful and highly profitable company when it was active. In early 2009 the decision was made to cease trading - it had nothing to do with aviation.

Platinum Fighter Sales is owned by 2 former employees of Provenance: Simon Brown and John Rayner. We needed jobs and decided to carry on in the business of trading aircraft, so we formed Platinum Fighter Sales. It's 100% owned by Simon and John and we have no attachment to Provenance Fighter Sales.

The major difference between the two business models is that Platinum is a broker and not an owner as was the case with Provenance.

Keep checking our website: www.platinumfighters.com

We've got several new aircraft which we will be listing in the next few weeks.

owner - Platinum Fighter Sales
