On Friday morning, we took a C-17 down to Laughlin AFB in Del Rio for MWS day. Basically, a few different airframes showed up so that the guys in UPT can learn a little about the planes they might end up flying. The different aircrews gave a presentation about their airplanes and what to expect if you were to get orders and then everybody went out and toured the planes. They all seemed to enjoy it and learned a lot.

Personally, I think it was all done to make these guys feel even worse when they all get orders to UAVs!!

I didn't get pictures of everything but here's a few.

The static displays on base:

Are you sure that was the only Mustang there? Maybe the secret owners society had a secret convention there and had them in the stealth hangar!

Brad these base reports are great! Thanks for taking the time to share them with us.

Did the B-1 get out of bed late? her tail feathers are a bit ruffled.. :P :P

The U-2 looks about the same as in 1986...canopy paint and the outrigger wheels are gone?

At least outdoor display out there should be pretty dry.

Yeah, taxpayer discount...150% of what we would have paid for it had we shopped around.

Well, the grey paint (from Canada) would've been cheaper because of the exchange rate...but yeah, they had to go with gray, which cost half again as much...

Thanks for the post. Good to see those airframes on the gate are being well looked after...except for the Invader (which wasn't there then), these look just as they did when my dad and I dropped by the Laughlin gate on our Texas trip in 1992.
