Actually multiples were built in the USA at the Texas Airplane Factory.

I think those are photos of the aircraft owned by Doug Champlin. They were moved to GossHawk Unlimited where two were finished. One went to Erickson in Oregon as a flyer and the other was static. I think that one is in Seattle (not sure...)

The other two are in one of GossHawk's hangars waiting for buyers/money/time so they can be finished.

Someone who worked at GossHawk wrote a thread about the Oscars sometime last year. As I recall, the two Oscars had been sold or were about to be sold to a new owner. From your statement, it appears that this deal fell through. Can you confirm that?

The last I heard, a deal was pending but had not occurred yet. I work with Dave Goss on a regular basis (I wire his restorations) and will see if I can get a definitive answer for you.

Howdy

In one of the past issues of Warbirds Digest on GossHawk new Facility,
it was stated that Jerry Yagen obtained the last two

Lightning

Absolutely wonderful! It will be very exciting to see the new Oscar flying with the Tony now currently being rebuilt to flying condition in Australia.

I've got to hand it to Mr. Yagen. He has been collecting some sorely neglected Axis aircraft. He seems to like to collect German, Japanese and Russian aircraft. This is something that needs to be done to represent some of the more "less popular" warbirds. I applaud him! :)

Agreed, I am pleased that we are getting a better representation of axis warbirds. As much as I love the P-51 and the Spitfire they were not the only W.W.II fighter planes. The Tony is even more exciting than the Oscars. Am I correct in that I saw a P-38 in the same restoration space as the Hien?

It's nice to see someone who will actually fly them has acquired the last two. A museum that already had an Oscar in the first place buying one of the replicas and then getting rid of the original was a head scratcher to me...

The original belongs to the EAA and I suppose the MoF figured it was better to own a replica than to borrow an original. I'm happy with the deal as it now means the original is only a couple of hours from me! :)
