Hi all
I am now the proud posseser of a slide scaner. Now I can show you how to take BAD pictures!!!
hear are some pictures taken on a trip to the U.S. during 1987

What ever happened to the Skyshark?
These are my kind of aircraft. A bit ugly and a lot un loved you can keep you'r Spitfires and Mustangs! :lol:

The sole surviving A2D Skyshark was given to the Planes of Fame Museum by Douglas at the end of the program, and it sat at Chino for a number of years. I saw it there in 1992, tucked in between a couple of the smaller hangars.

It later was taken to Idaho Falls, ID, to Pacific Fighters (John Muszala), and is still there, in an un-airworthy condition.

There's a photo taken of it in a thread posted on April 10, 2008, by Gary Hilton titled "Last Month in Idaho Falls".

Yep, the sole remains of the of the Conestoga residing at Pima..tho there is a tale of 2 Navy examples being shoved
off into the river at Pawtuxent at the end of WW2 when they were done with them. Being that they are stainless steel,
substantial remains could still exist.

I wonder if NHC has ever considered retrieving the stuff along the shore there at Pax...Arado stuff..Budd stuff, etc.?

Yes it was. My Gradfather worked at the plant on Red Lion Rd in Northeast Philly and he worked on the Conestoga in particular. The plant site is now a golf course and the only remaining building is the Plant Garage that is now used as a home for the courses golf carts.

The runway there was bulldozed many years ago.

A number of years ago there was a photo of what looks like another Conestoga that had ended up on the edge of a lake in northern Canada?. I'm not too sure the photo wasn't on WIX in the last couple of years as well. Post more pictures, Cking!

I believe that 'FLYING TIGERS', the airline not the group, used the CONESTOGAs for a short while after the war because they had, for the time, huge cargo holds and I think they were almost given away. Being made of stainless they pretty much won't rust and stainless has a scrap value of ZERO!
