Sorry it's been a while since posting, but my lap-top has been down, hope to get it back soon... Has anybody seen the video of Dave Hanson's PV-2 "Attu Warrior" landing with the left engine smoking badly and shut down that took place last week? I believe the man who shot the vid was David Mueller??? Anyway, Dave and check pilot Steve did great job of getting her down....no metal bent...but where did the seat cushions go???

That engine stopped pretty quick too. Great piece of flying.

Tailwheel was at the same angle when they took off.... at least while the tail was up...

Heck of a nice landing considering the circumstances - great job keeping it straight on the runway too. It's inspiring to see a pilot who keeps his cool in an emergency...

so that's basically standing on the left brake, right? you wouldn't want to use power on the good engine i would imagine, just adding energy when you don't want it. nothing else you could do. very heads up piloting.

Wow.

That's a difficult blow for a guy who has spent the last half-year or better pouring his heart, soul and wallet into a restoration project such as this one. Ya'll have no idea how hard this guy has slaved on this thing behind the scenes. Dave, the offer still stands on the Dash -31s down here off of old -57C.

And yeah - for the guy in the L seat, darn good job of getting her where she needed to be ASAP without bending tin. Engine out and a tailwheel issue - man, hot stuff, and no pun intended here whatsoever... Excellent job up there, boys. Beer glass raised to the crew... Dang. I think my heart stops each time I hit that video re-play button.....

Ed Packard commented that that crankcase oil was probably hot enough to fry 'taters in. I think he's correct. Nice work of getting her down with you guys safe. That's what it is all about.

Let us know what we can do to help. Understand there's one down in Borrego on a skid, but in the event you need these two we have a crew in waiting to evaluate and pull. We're with you on the long haul, brother....

That's scary but at the same time cool to see such skilled piloting in a bad situation.

Wow, excellent piloting skills by the PIC! Nice job and an awesome video. I have a question as I'm not familiar with Harpoons and don't mean to be critical in any way, but why is that dead engine prop not feathered? Obviously, he couldn't feather it, but why? Can someone explain the systems on the Harpoon as it relates to feathering?

Who was the pilot? Just a FANTASTIC job of keeping that thing from bending metal!

A few more questions:

1) Where did that happen at?

2) What caused the engine problem?

3) Can the Harpoon maintain level flight on one engine?
