I want to know how you got involved in aviation and warbirds. I began my career in aviation at the very young age of 3, I had no choice it started with my dad introducing me to the aircraft drug. So here are some pictures of my journey into aviation. Please let me and all of WIX know how you got started. Hey 262,

Congrats on your 100th post!

I grew up a car guy but the past decade have become obsessed with the Boeing 314 Clippers as well as the other 1930s-1940s seaplanes.

Also I live within a mile of the large Coast Guard Air Station in Elizabeth City, NC with its own Grumman Albatross perched out front at the base entrance :)

Thanks,
Mike

My Father and Grandfather were both in the Air Force and I started going to airshow's early. We also used to have a Cub.

I wish I knew who's T-6 this was, it was my first warbird ride (in Dad's lap :? ) but this is the only pic I have of it. Both my Father and Grandfather have passed on so it would be rather difficult to ask them.

Yeah, and you grew up just fine, you make your old Dad proud. For those curious, his first ride was in a Mooney 20E with a member of EAA Chapter 261 in NOLA in 1977. The photo of him and his sister was a few weeks later the 50th anniversary tour of Lindbergs flight to Paris (81 years ago last week!!!) @ Lake Front Airport in NOLA (now pretty much destroyed by Katrina 'doo in a heck of a job Brownie')
The shot with Cutters Goose was after the TV show and the aircraft was undergoing maintenance @ KBFI before flying off to sink in Alaskan waters soon after. (by now, the facination with airplanes had worn off his sister as you can clearly see) :D :D :D :D
and by the way, he still has that S.E.G. and the same drive to see whats next or new  And I'm proud to say 'thats my son!'

Clipper!
I saw one of those floating Fords last weekend at a local Saturday night burger joint car show...it is sea worthy!
