As far as I know there were two (3?) different types of seats used with the P-51B - P-51D. They were the Warren McArthur & Schick-Johnson.

Was there any rhyme or reason as to what type of seat was put in a particular plane? Did one block of A/C get a certain type of seat or were both types installed in all blocks depending on their availability? Or, was one type seat used by Inglewood & the other by Dallas?

If I wanted to build a model of a particular P-51 would the only way to know which seat it had be to find a photo that showed enought of the cockpit to ID the seat type?

Thanks,

Mac
