I was very skeptical of the story...so I poked around the site a bit.

It appears to be a fictional group based around the IL-2 Sturmovik PC video game.

The unit History just didnt seem to ad up just right in its historical respects.

Not to mention for all the claims made in the history it is pretty bizarre that no information was ever leaked in 60+ years...

(I just spent the day writing a paper about Russia's victory in WWII for my Russian History class... so if this had been true it would have been significant  )

i'm skeptical too. i wondered why the dust would be blown off of a cool story with no mention in the top av mags up to now since the war.

Now it makes sense. E-mail came from an old P-51 pilot, I'll have to tell him it isn't for real.

Interesting back story.

In reality, did the soviets ever fly Mustangs or Thunderbolts? I seem to remember some Mustangs being delivered but I don't think I've ever seen one with the soviet markings. Pics?

I know there were some Lend-Lease P-47s that went to Russia, but I have yet to read anywhere about how they were used or what happened to them.
