Warbird Information Exchange

I have always been interested in the PV-1 Ventura, and have tried to figure out just how many of them survive. (This has always been an issue, as the Venturas get confused with PV-2, Howards, and Lodestars.) I know there is a complete example and a few projects Downunder and the largest collection of survivors is in South Africa. So what about the rest of the world. Here is what I have so far:

Canada

CF-FAV under restoation with the Ventura Memorial Flight in Edmonton

UK

AJ469 in storage for the RAF Museum

USA

AJ311 (B-34) on display in Colorado
N1000X is under static restoration in Florida (NNAM owner)
N234P is under static restoration in Calif.

Is Super Ventura N183PL still in storage at Chico?

BuNo. 34807 has been attributed in a few places to the USMC Museum. I this really a survivor?

Brazil

5890 on display in Brazil (Has this airplane always been in Brazil or is it a U.S. export? I have seen this airplane reported as N165H which was at one point under restoration in the U.S. Is this correct?)

It is sad that a major wartime type has been pretty much been forgotten and that none of the major museums in Canada, Europe, or the US have an example on display.

Any help or info is appreciated.

the raaf museum in australia has one in storage(was flown till an accident in the 90's).
there are some in storage in south africa with the saaf museum.

The Ventura Memorial Flight continues, slowly, the restoration of its PV1.

The goal is to return the aircraft to its exact 1943 specifications and become the sole flying example.

You can contact them at rcafventura.ca, they ahve an amazing archives of the type from photos to the aircraft.

As I recall virtually all of the parts have been purchased/collected, the problem now is the dollars to complete the project.

The Ventura Memorial Flight is a registered not for profit, its stated goal is to complete the aircraft and fly it as a tribute to those, around the world that served on the type.
