our local paper has found this image in their archive and would like to know more about it - it LOOKS like a Piper Cub, but something about the side door bothers me - it might not be!

Rightio, it seems she might be an Aeronca! but is it an L-3 or and L-16? Googling it, it looks more like an L-16 and the flight gear looks post war - including the sgt stripes on the guy kneeling....

Thoughts anyone?

Hey Joe: Isn't the guy on the right wearing an AAF patch and sholder boards on that jacket? If so wouldn't that have been out of the regulation uniform system right after the changeover to USAF in '47?
