Warbird Information Exchange

Greetings All -

I'm helping the Prairie Aviation Museum in Bloomington. IL by starting to scan photos that have been donated to them over the years. I stated off with an envelope of Pacific Theater images donated by someone which have no info with them at all.

Here's some B-24 and B-29 images from that first batch. The file name is all I've found so far (in this case, basically what I've gleaned from the photo itself. Any and all help gladly accepted and appreciated if anyone can add more to the info!

The 3rd and 4th from the last with the little indian is the 64th BS 43rd BG 5th AF. The other B-24 looks like 'St Louis Blues' of the same sqd.

That B-24-DT looked great! Do you have any more DT B-24 gems hidden in there? Below is a look at 41-28537, which came off the Tulsa line just a few ahead of your bird.

FOUND the elusive DT-built B-24! Woo-hoo!!!

The B-29 is s/n 42-65231, a B-29-15-MO. She was assigned to the 73rd Wing, 497th Bomb Group, 871st Squadron and was lost on 18 April, 1945. It's interesting to see the PB4Y-1s parked behind her in the second photo. That may give a clue as to where these pictures were taken.

Tulsaboy - that's the only photo in this batch of a Douglas Tulsa built B-24. I have a bunch of European Theater images of which a few are B-24s - will post after I've scanned and resized them.
