P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

Interesting, intercooler doors open but cowl flaps closed.
Must not wanted the drag or maybe the better visability.
Did they have water/meth injection on the early Ds?
Maybe it should be titled "One Shot Naval Aviator"

I may be wrong, but I thought all Curtiss built P-47's were "G" models..
Nice Shot...pretty gutsy though. No onboard recovery if a problem comes up. Gotta flyaway.....

Couldn't be a Curtis built "G" anyways. They didn't have gunsites.

I'm interested to know where this is documented. I have read many P-47G accident reports and there were quite a few that crashed at gunnery practice ranges. Also, the P-47G engineering drawings show different installations of gun sights, depending on the -number, i.e., P-47G-5-CU, etc. So I'm wondering where it is documented that Curtiss P-47G's didn't hae gun sights?
