Our friend and fellow Canadian Keith McMann doing his thing at Reno this September. Maybe not authentic, but a really distictive paint scheme!

This is a genuine two-owner airplane -- Keith's father bought it many years ago from the Royal Canadian Air Force, back when there was such a thing...

That's a great looking paint job!

I like it!

Thank you!

Here are a couple of Reno T-6 shots for Jack Cook, as he used to be involved with these birds...

The Amazing Neal Nurmi is everywhere when at Reno. :D With him and his wife, Birgetta, walking around, you have to be careful what you're doing, as they're liable to get you in an unflattering pose.

These shots would have been taken out at the pylons during the races.

Roger is correct. We have for many years had press credentials for the Races (in my case since 1976). The press pass gets you out to certain pylons on actual race days. The pylons are a photographer's dream.

And yes we do have some embarrassing Gary Austin shots. I'm saving them up til we need something from him that only blackmail will provide...

Hey Gary -- did I ever post any shots of your Reno adventure over here? I don't remember.

Nothing especially exotic in my lens selection -- for the pylons I mostly work with a Nikon 300 mm F4 telephoto. One great thing about Reno is the air is usually clear and the light strong and consistent, so fast (as in very expensive and very big and heavy) glass is not needed.

Here are a couple more by me, and a shot taken by Birgitta just before the Gold Race on Sunday:

This is of course where that paint scheme came from a Canadian icon. Sure looked purty on that t-bird.

Heck, just the flying shots alone are embarassing enough. One day, I'll really learn how to fly around the pylons.

I think you may have posted a couple of me at Reno here, but since it's not a Warbird, I reckon any of my ride at Reno should be in the Air Racing section. We don't want to upset anyone you know.

Well Gary, how about if we hide you between a a Bearcat and some Sea Furies? Nobody will notice your little Cassutt in there...

Good choice on the Bearcat and SeaFuries in the pictures. I've been known to be right in the middle of all of them at one time or another.

And great shot of Maybee's Baby too! :D

x-Paraguayan #0101 aka Race 69 was a real original stock 6 when Lee's boss bought it.
Lee immediately came down and stripped it down for racing.
Off came the radio mast, ADF football, canopy braces, guns and
the link catcher under the right wing. :? :?
