Thought you might like to see some photos of the Constellation and F-105D being delivered to the Udvar-Hazy center on wednesday. They aren't up to my usual standard, but the lighting contrast was pretty staggering. Hope you enjoy them anyway.

Cheers,
Richard

Why wasnt the Connie painted outside and away from paint fumes spoiling the rest of the planes inside, if they inteend to paint it inside?

Does look good tho PA ANG colours maybe?

That F-105D looks nicely done also, hope they do a Vietnam era warbird colour on her to make her look real and respected. Add the Naked lady Cherrie artwork cmon i dare them

The Connie was in fact painted in another building and not around the other planes. also see www.conniesurvivors.com/1-connie_news.htm

Many thanks for all of the responses, I really appreciate it. The Connie is going into its original WVANG markings according to what I was told. It was painted by UAL and NASM volunteers at UAL's maintenance hangar, not the Udvar-Hazy Center. The finder details will be added on in the coming weeks. The rudders and props are at Silver Hill being worked on.

The F-105D is painted in the markings it wore with the 421st TFS, 388th TFW flying out of Korat RTAB, Thailand. It is thought to have shot down a MiG-17 in that year too.

Cheers,
Richard

Ralph Peterson has a most informative synopsis of the move and subsequent restoration of the Constellation at www.conniesurvivors.com/1-nasm_c-121c.htm
