Tim,

I've been searching every reference book that I can think of for the last hour or so, can't find a thing.
The only reference about Mexican T-6's is a romoured U-boat sinking, no specific details given though.
Every list of T-6 users/lend lease countries that I can find Mexico isn't listed as one of them.
Do you know if they were based/trained in the U.S., like the P-47 squadron? American a/c with Mexican pilots, Post war???

Regards,
Mike

I expect Tulio Soto to come up with an answer, or you can try the www.laahs.com forum!

They did have T6s until they got T28s/ We imported a couple back a few years ago, but don't remember the s/ns. Tulio should know.

Hi,

according the book "Historia Grafica de la Fuerza Aerea Mexicana" of Hector Davila Cornejo, the Mexican Air Force had 139 T-6s. Including, at least, AT-6A, AT-6B, AT-6C, AT-6D end T-6G.

Regards,

Benno

Finally found something, Strange that there's no mention in most of the T-6 books.

http://www.aztecmodels.com/fam/fam_frm0.htm Click on "Historia" then 1939-1944

I think I saw Mexican T-6s in Cozumel years ago, probably around 1971. I was there on a scuba trip with a Houston travel club, on a DC-3. Upon departure the local cops/officials tried to hit us with a $75 "cleaning fee" for the inside of the 3, despite the fact that we had not asked for cleaning and the plane was locked. The cops started to display their guns and were demanding their bribe, when a very nice clean cut Lt. ? in the Air Force came up with a squad of riflemen. He apologized for his countrymen, explained that he did not have direct command over the cops, but if they fired on us, he would order his men to fire on them. We got in the plane and left ok. I did not really know much about T-6s then, but the military planes I saw did not seem as big as a T-28, as nearly as I remember it. They were definitely prop planes.
