Just a hypothetical cause I could never afford it. But if you wanted to get together a 4 ship of currently restored Mustangs for a photo shoot to try and do something similar to the well known color shots of the yellow nose wartime 51s, which 4 Mustangs would match up.

In that I mean that would have correct squadron and group markings for the same time period. As an example Kermit Weeks "Cripes" wouldn't work with Vlado's "Moonbeam" because it's summer 44 markings instead of fall winter.

I guess what i imagine is a print on my wall of 4 restored 51s with the pilots in period gear, with the armor plate and gunsite showing and the drop tanks on the pylons. And the pilots Type C RAF helmets instead of modern ones.

Best I can come up with would be

Miss Helen
MoonBeam McSwine
Sweat and Lovely
Slender Tender & Tall.

All HO codes and blue nosers. I have that vision of those 4 above scattered clouds tucked in tight in living color hanging from my wall :)

I can't come up with another set of 4 that would fit the criteria for creating a moment in time like that.

Fun to imagine anyway

All bright and shiny airplanes.
You need Princess Elizabeth in there to add some used, dirty period look to that picture. Particulary after Patty Wagstaff goes inverted and negative G so the R/H side is covered with oil out the brather vent.

I'd love to but she's in June 44 markings with full invasion stripes. She'd look way out of place with those others that are November-December 44 markings.

Trying for a specific moment in time look :)

Rich, thanks, I noticed that and have a picture of it somewhere. Now I know why....

So they buffed the airframes to a mirror finish in the winter of '44? Or painted the fuselages with gloss aluminum finish paint? Strange, I'd have thought that the ground crews in those days had better things to do to occupy their time...........

If you're using Photoshop, your best bet would probably be to clone 3 more images of 'Princess Elizabeth' and simply change the code letters and names on the nose!
